Energy Efficient Homes Designed for Australian Conditions

Creating a genuinely energy-efficient home requires more than adding solar panels to a conventional house. The entire building must be considered as a system.

Hubhouse combines passive solar design, high levels of insulation, airtight construction, efficient ventilation, renewable energy generation and intelligent controls to reduce energy demand before active systems are required.

This integrated approach helps deliver homes that are more comfortable, healthier and less expensive to operate throughout their lifespan.

Reducing Home Energy Demand

The building envelope is the foundation of every Hubhouse, determining how the home controls heat flow, manages air leakage and maintains comfortable indoor conditions.

Our approach reduces energy demand first. Once the building envelope performs efficiently, active systems can be smaller, simpler and more economical to operate.

High Performance Glazing

Windows play a critical role in the performance of any home.

Hubhouse utilises high-performance double glazing within thermally broken frames. Low-E coatings help reduce unwanted heat transfer while limiting UV penetration that can contribute to fading of flooring, furnishings and fabrics.

The result is improved comfort, reduced energy demand and better year-round thermal performance.

Passive Solar Design & Thermal Mass

Every site is different. Hubhouse homes are carefully designed to maximise the passive solar potential of each location.

Orientation, glazing placement, shading, thermal mass and room layout all contribute to year-round comfort. Thermal mass can store warmth during winter and help moderate temperature fluctuations throughout the day and night.

By reducing reliance on active heating and cooling systems, passive solar design plays an important role in long-term energy efficiency.

7+ Star NatHERS Performance

Every Hubhouse is designed to achieve a minimum 7-star NatHERS rating.

NatHERS measures the thermal performance of a home and provides an indication of how much heating and cooling energy is likely to be required throughout the year.

A higher NatHERS rating generally translates to improved comfort, lower energy consumption and reduced running costs.
